This to me, is one of the most important things that a person can do for themselves. Get outside! More importantly, out into nature. Mind you....I'm a huge wimp when it comes to the cold. I just don't like it...but when the weather is mild, I love getting outside! I would trade a trip to the gym for a walk on the trails whenever possible!
TIPS:
+ Keep a pair of runners and socks in your office.
+ Be sure to keep your ipod/mp3 player and earphones handy. Make an energizing playlist to listen to!
+ Use your morning and/or afternoon breaks to go for a quick walk. Go get a coffee or a tea or just turn on your step counter and enjoy your music!
+ Take a lunch hour out of the office a couple of times a week, to walk on a local trail.
+ Even when you don't feel like going out, do it! You'll feel so much better once you do.
Being outdoors can help to lower your heart rate and blood pressure. It can help you to clear and detoxify your mind. Natural sunlight can help with pain levels and can boost your energy! Being out in nature can also help to boost your immune system, helps with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and gives you a good dose of vitamin D!
Overall, I believe that being outdoors makes us better people inside. Nature helps us to calm our feelings of anxiety and pressure, and makes use more grateful, happy people!
Give it a try!
