Do you often suffer from sore feet at the end of the day? Are you an athlete or sports enthusiast? Here are some do-it-yourself quick foot massage techniques to pamper your tootsies and help to relieve the pain of plantar fasciitis.

Start by sitting on a chair and crossing one foot over the opposite knee. Place one hand on top of the foot and the other hand on the bottom, gently holding your foot for about one to two minutes or longer. You will begin to feel some warmth and possibly a tingling sensation in your foot. This action allows for the softening and releasing of the muscles and fascia all throughout the foot.

Next, with lotion if possible, you can begin to spread open and massage the the bottom of the foot (plantar fascia) by placing your thumbs under your foot and using a 'windshield wiper’ motion.

If you encounter a trigger point (a knot), gently apply a static pressure with your thumb, going as deep as your pain tolerance allows. Repeat with the other foot.

Feet are often overlooked and ignored, but are one of the most important parts of our body! They carry us on our daily journey and safely home at the end of the day. For those reasons, they deserve a little love!
