Sanity savers for when you feel like you're about to lose your mind...

Seriously....we've all been there. Stressed to the max, physically worn out and mentally exhausted. Just when you feel like you can't handle another minute....give these a try. These are in no particular order but I recommend deep breathing to start. As you take a deep inhale and let out a long exhale.....your mind starts to slow as well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get off the couch. Stand up. Sometimes that is all we need, to find a little motivation!

Breathe. It doesn't get much more simple than that. Taking deep inhales and long exhales, especially during a time of stress or panic, can really help to slow your heart rate down.

Open up the curtains or blinds in all rooms of your home and let the natural light in. This can help to brighten up your mood.

Stretch or do yoga. Something 10-15 minutes is all that you need to get your blood pumping and elevate your attitude.

Drink a glass of water. A whole glass. All at once. Many times when you're not feeling great...your body is lacking hydration. This can lead to headache, fatigue and an overall unwell feeling.

Get dressed. Sometimes, a great outfit helps you to feel better about yourself and to tackle whatever your day throws at you.

Take a walk. Getting out into nature and inhaling some fresh air is sometimes one of the best things that you can do for yourself. Fresh air can breathe new life into your day.

Journal. Writing your thoughts and emotions down, can help to get them out of your head and on to paper, where you can revisit them later if needed.

Meditate. Spend a period of time, whether it be 15 minutes or an hour, in a quite space in your home. Closing your eyes down, slowing your breath down and drawing your focus inward.

Listen to music. Throwing on some upbeat tunes will make you want to do something with your hands. Wash dishes, mop or vacuum floors, fold laundry or tidy up. As you work, you'll feel super productive. Another possibility is that you dance it out! Music has the ability to make us want to move. Let it happen! Dance like nobody's watching!

Light a candle. The scent, warm and the flicker of the flame are soothing and relaxing.

Make a cup of tea. It doesn't have to be anything fancy...a cup of tea is just good for the soul. Organic green tea, peppermint tea or Chai tea are some choices. For a bit of a sweeter flavour, add some organic, local honey.

Hug someone. Physical touch is so important, yet sometime we go through our day without meaningfully touching another person. Sometimes a hug from a good friend or loved one can be like medicine.

Look for beauty in the mundane. Sometimes intentionally seeing the beauty and the good in the things that surround us, can help to change our perspective. Take a picture and share it to your social media to help inspire others around you.
